Border Closure: NIDO Asia trains Nigeria farmers to boost rice, processing production

Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) Asia, have concluded plans to organise a free sensitisation training workshop for rice farmers, agricultural entrepreneurs and general public.
This was contained in a statement signed by Engr Prof Emenike Ejiogu, Engr Henry Awoms and Engr Ochade Osekwe, President, General Secretary and Public Relations Officer respectively.
The statement said the aim was to boost local rice production and processing as experts from Japan would teach and practically demonstrate the use of machine in de-husking, de-hulling, de-stoning and polishing of rice during the workshop.
"NIDO Asia is the umbrella organisation of Nigerians living in Asia, we agreed to train Nigeria farmers on the use of modular rice processing machinery, in order to boost local rice production.
"Over the years, NIDO Asia has identified and intervened in several areas of Nigeria economy so as to move the country forward ," the statement said.
According to the statement, the training workshop would be free of charge on the use of modular rice processing machinery for farmers and general public.
"This is part of NIDO contributions to ensure that rice produced locally meets demands of Nigerians at affordable price as well as have enough to export.
"We are bringing five technical experts from Japan as well as in partnering with Kanryu industry Ltd Japan, Ino Inc Japan and Mirai Denchi Nigeria Ltd a subsidiary of Mirai Denchi lnc Japan."
The statement said the event would hold in Lagos on December 4th at at Lagos NUT Pavilion, plot 5 block B NERDC road CBD beside Tisco plaza Alausa Ikeja Lagos
And in Abuja on December 6th at Green-Mind hotel, No 764 Cadastria zone AE Ekukinam street along Utako market Utako district Abuja.
"All hands must be on deck to ensure that the era of foreign rice is over in Nigeria since huge patronage of local rice will not only boost the economy but also generate more employments for jobless youths.
